What is a WhatsApp Business username?
A @name customers can use to find and message your business on WhatsApp without knowing your phone number.
Does the username hide my business phone number?
No. For business accounts the number stays visible on your profile; the username is added on top. Only personal accounts can hide the number.
When is the feature available?
WhatsApp is rolling out usernames in waves during 2026; reservations are already open. Once “Create” appears in your WhatsApp Manager, you can set the username right away.
Which characters are allowed?
3–35 characters: only lowercase letters, numbers, period (.) and underscore (_), with at least one letter. Not allowed: starting with “www.” or ending in domains like “.com”.
Can I change the username later?
Yes, you can update it anytime in the Profile tab.
Is this done in SendSeven or in Meta?
The business username is set in WhatsApp Manager (Meta). Nothing changes in your SendSeven setup.
How is it different from a personal WhatsApp username?
On a personal account the username replaces the phone number, which can then be hidden. On a business account the number stays visible; the username is an additional way to reach you.
