Suggested Reply
A Suggested Reply is a predefined, tappable response button inside an RCS message. Instead of typing, the recipient picks a ready-made answer and sends it back. It makes conversations faster and steers them in an orderly direction.
What is a Suggested Reply?
A Suggested Reply is a ready-made response button that appears beneath an RCS message. The recipient taps it, and the stored text is sent back as a normal reply, with no typing required. The result is a guided conversation: the business proposes sensible answers, and the customer chooses with a single tap.
Suggested Replies are a core element of the RCS Business Messaging experience, turning a static message into an interactive one.
Reply versus native action
The key distinction is from a Suggested Action. A Suggested Reply produces a text answer that lands in the chat thread and continues the conversation. A Suggested Action, by contrast, triggers a function on the device, such as a phone call or opening a map.
- Suggested Reply: sends a text back ("Yes, please", "Confirm appointment") and keeps the conversation going.
- Suggested Action: launches a native action outside the chat (call, location, calendar, link).
- Display: both appear as tappable chips beneath the message, often side by side.
Typical use cases
Suggested Replies fit anywhere a quick, unambiguous response is needed:
- Yes/No decisions: "Would you like a reminder?" with the chips "Yes, please" and "No, thanks".
- Appointment confirmation: "Appointment Friday, 2 PM" with "Confirm" and "Reschedule".
- Menu navigation: a short choice menu ("Order status", "Return", "Talk to the team") that routes the customer straight to the right topic.
A short example: a garage sends a service reminder. Below it sit three chips. The customer taps "Confirm appointment", and the confirmation goes straight back, with no call and no typing.
RCS and SendSeven
SendSeven is a unified-messaging platform for WhatsApp, SMS, email, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, and live chat. RCS, with interactive elements like Suggested Replies, is planned as a future channel; SMS is already a core part today and reaches recipients reliably even without an RCS-capable device. Every channel comes together in one central inbox, GDPR-compliant, EU-hosted, and built in Germany.
